Biography
With the mind of an engineer, the voice of a poet and the heart and soul of a visionary, Josephus III is constantly transcending barriers. As a visual artist his work has been displayed on billboards as well as on a line of prints entitled Mental Messages. As a performance artist he displays his works and talents in museums, galleries, universities, corporate settings and stage productions just to name a few. As a teacher and lecturer he works in both the educational and corporate setting focusing on “Education through Correlation”, as well as showing students the importance of writing and poetry and how it directly relates to their life.
He is also a columnist for The GoTriad and was the co-host for 97.1WQMG’s Poetry Cafe. In addition his words have been featured on greeting cards and several other collaborative works, including a quilted piece by Jacqueline Hughes Mooney for President Bill Clinton in 2005. To add to his accomplishments he was selected to perform with an ensemble of poets for Oprah Winfrey at Bennett College in 2006. Fusing poetry and art with passion and purpose Josephus III released a CD entitled, “Miracles, Acoustic Soul Poetry” that same year, which was a blend of spoken word poetry, acoustic melodies and soulful vocals. He is currently touring his latest work “One Thing” as a stage production and has created another CD as well as a DVD and tee-shirt line called “Definitions” to accompany the production. His first book is soon to follow.
Josephus III can often be found on stage accompanied by dancers, singers and musicians that help tap the rhythm of life and bring new meaning and understanding to his words. Life is a collective experience, a group effort, a journey that we must work together to complete. Everyday he searches for new ways to use his gifts and abilities to pursue the hopes, dreams, ambitions and purpose of his life. Josephus III, Poet, Entrepreneur, Teacher, Dreamer, Visionary, Mentor, Brother, Son.

"Josephus is a walking, talking example of what hip hop really is. Always moving to his own beat, always speaking right from his heart, he is unafraid to challenge the mainstream as he mixes his own special blend of art, entrepreneurialism, and love for the human spirit. He has a unique ability to inspire and motivate younger artists. This quality may yet prove to be the thing that takes him over the top."
- Mr. Steve Willis
MFA, Assistant Professor of Speech & Theatre
Department of Visual & Performing Arts, Bennett College for Women
"Josephus was an invigorating speaker and innovator through out the sixth grade Language Arts classrooms at Kiser Middle School. His knowledge of POE-TRY, Poetry, showed not only the students but the faculty that poetry is life, and life is poetry. Thanks from all of us!"

"Josephus III's performance was everything acoustic soul poetry should be strong, deep and seamless. The unique combination of poetry, song, dance and acoustic guitar, bass and drums wove a sometimes heartbreaking but always uplifting tapestry of love, longing, pain and redemption. Their message reached all present like rays of sunshine."
